What if I grabbed the top of your head and keep twisting and twisting and twisting
there are so many hidden relationships between people.. ur grandpa killed mine in a war some 800 years ago but also we were neighbors in the 1700s who traded eggs and milk. wwhat does that make us
in high school I found out a guy in my english class had an ancestor who was on the opposite side of the samurai rebellion in which my great great grandfather was meant to be executed (for losing) but he ran away and hid for the rest of his life and the guy was like “….damn. good for him. now we’re both here to write bad essays on pride and prejudice.”
With that story of the person buying a pregnancy test being sent formula samples in the mail getting traction recently, it needs to be pointed out that this is not new.
With my most recent pregnancy in 2020, I started receiving formula samples in the mail from Similac and Enfamil in my first trimester. My email was quickly passed between pregnancy and baby specific companies and my inbox became flooded with emails advertising countless products and services.
I was harassed by 2 cord blood storage companies after briefly browsing one of their websites. After my baby was diagnosed as terminal, I had a phone conversation with a rep who tried to convince me multiple times to store her cord blood for my future babies.
After Sam was born/died, within a week of my delivery I received a congratulations letter and offer from Gerber Life Insurance in the mail, also without my consent. I continued receiving formula coupons despite reporting her death to the companies multiple times, and even now I receive toddler formula coupons from time to time.
Amazon has tracked my purchases to the point that they know I (should) have a 19 month old and will advertise me toddler and baby things for girls, despite never having linked an AGAB to my Amazon account.
This level of capitalistic surveillance of pregnancy in the US specifically is not new and with the repeal of Roe v. Wade it should terrify you.
I know the Library of Alexandria comment sounds like an exaggeration. It absolutely is not. As of May 7, 2022, the Internet Archive holds over 35 million books and texts, 7.9 million movies, videos and TV shows, 842 thousand software programs, 14 million audio files, 4 million images, 2.4 million TV clips, 237 thousand concerts, and over 682 billion web pages in the Wayback Machine. It’s been operating since 1996, the loss of knowledge would be impossible to ever completely come back from.
The lawsuit from Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins, John Wiley Sons, and Penguin Random House alleges there have been significant revenue losses because of their controlled digital lending program. For context, most libraries in the US also use CDL to distribute books to their patrons wherever they are but those programs are run through for profit companies and the libraries are often paying a very high fee to so their patrons can have access to digital books. The Internet Archive’s program is completely free but they have a policy of not digitizing and lending anything less than 5 years old.
The lawsuit goes on to note that authors often own larger shares of their revenue of digital vs. print copies of their books. So the publishing companies, seeing that they’re underpaying their authors, are essentially blaming a library for being free instead of bumping up what authors earn on print copies. The Internet Archive’s 5 year policy is designed to protect authors anyway as that’s when books typically make the most money.
Hey by the way The Internet Archive is also one of the most cited places on Wikipedia. If it goes down a good chunk of Wikipedia will go back to “citation needed” or citations will lead to dead links.
Hate diet culture so much bitches will b like “don’t eat processed carbs they’re so bad for you” like and??? So what?? God did not give us grain and stone to grind it with for no reason. Bread is inevitable. Bread is food for the heart and the soul. U think I’m gonna give that up in pursuit of instagram fitness?? U think I’m gonna deny myself the simple pleasure of toast with jam so I can endlessly chase an ever-shifting standard of beauty that ultimately means nothing? In 20 years I will no longer be beautiful and in 60 my body will be vacant food for other, smaller creatures. But the taste of fresh bread? Of homemade donuts and still-warm pie? I will carry the taste on my tongue into whatever follows this life. So like. Stop telling me I should diet lmao. I’m not abt to martyr myself just to get a man to look at me.
Op genuinely thank you for this

Also just out of the blue, unprompted, talking about you not wanting to have sex with someone, is pretty rude and if you're bringing that up like that to that person when they haven't asked, its honestly a form of harassment.
Imagine, (and this may have happened to you before so think of how that felt) having someone, loudly and unprompted, talking about how they find you, personally unattractive and don't want to fuck you. You never asked, you have made no indication you want anything to do with them sexually, and yet they just keep talking about it, then say you are harrassing *them* when you tell them to shut up.
Now, not finding you attractive is well within their rights, but they're being incredibly rude and hurtful to say that to your face without any reason to.
Idk, as a cis queer person who also has a lot of other aspects of my identity such as being mixed race and disabled that some people take issue with, who has been on the same recieving end of strangers not shutting up about disliking your body for one reason or another when you're just trying to survive, and having to take the constant harassment on the chin and deal with it constany chipping away of self esteem just for daring to *exist*; I agree that it does get to a point where you're just being transphobic. (Or in the cases of myself, ableist or racist)
You are not required to find anyone attractive. You however *ARE* required to treat people with some basic level of human respect.
